Generally speaking, this tool is far from new. They say that he is not one thousand years old, they just forgot about him, and now they remembered him. And every day the army of fans of this method is growing.
As you can guess from the name (English sugar - sugar), shugaring is something related to sugar. The principle of operation is similar to waxing. A dense sticky mass is applied to the skin, the hairs stick to it securely, and then the mass is quickly removed from the surface of the skin along with the hairs. Only in this case, not wax is used, but a viscous composition of melted sugar.
How is sugar sugaring done?
Hair removal procedure
Some salons promise to remove hair of any length, but it's best to wait until it grows back to about 2mm.
Hair removal occurs in the following steps:
- Degreasing the skin (lotion, talc).
- Applying the composition against hair growth. In salons, a special paste for shugaring is used. Most brands offer a completely natural product without fragrances and dyes. For home hair removal, you can pastebuy at the store or cook yourself.
- Removing the layer of paste with a sharp movement along with the hairs. In this case, you can repeat the procedure several times on the same area of the skin to achieve perfect smoothness. It will not cause irritation or other negative consequences. The paste is removed by hair growth without damaging the follicles.
- Wash off the composition from the skin with warm water.
- Applying moisturizer. Sometimes before this, the skin is treated with special compounds that slow down hair growth.
During the day after the procedure, it is not recommended to sunbathe, visit the pool, solarium and sauna.
They say that over time, the hairs weaken, become thinner, and their number decreases. Not always, but some are lucky.
Shugaring Benefits
- Using only natural ingredients.
- Possibility of use on the most delicate areas (bikini, armpits, lip area). Naturally, those who are thinking about whether to try or not are tormented by the question: “Does sugaring hurt?”. Of course, assurances that sugar hair removal, unlike waxing, is painless is not true (although there is an opinion that sugar still brings less pain than wax). The first time will hurt. But be patient, otherwise no one would use this method. Each time the process will get easier. Remember the first time you plucked your eyebrows. You may have already forgotten that it was painful. Of course, everyone has a different threshold of sensitivity. It happens that a girl can only endure a shave anddepilatory cream, but this is a special case.
- When applied correctly, the chance of ingrown hairs tends to zero.
- Can be used for varicose veins. There is no additional heating (sufficient warmth of the skin), so this epilation does not provoke the formation of spider veins.
- The remains of the composition are easily washed off with water. Those who have ever waxed will understand what I'm talking about.
- Due to hair removal in small areas and frequent movements, the skin does not stretch, so sugaring is suitable for sagging skin.
- The procedure does not cause swelling, redness, irritation.
- You can make your own at home, which will save a lot of money.
Contraindications
Like any cosmetic procedure, sugaring for physiological reasons is not available to everyone. Do not use this hair removal method if:
- At the moment there is a rash, irritation, purulent and inflammatory processes on the skin.
- You have an intolerance to certain ingredients.
- You are diabetic
Composition of homemade sugaring paste
It is not always possible to prepare the composition the first time. This is a delicate matter and a relatively long one. Sugar burns easily, the mixture may be too thin or too hard. But everything comes with experience. But you can immediately cook such an amount of the composition, which is enough for several months.
There are many recipes, but it may happen that you have toexperiment with proportions, creating a composition that is suitable specifically for your hair structure.
Recipe 1. If you need a lot of mass
If you want to cook a lot at once, take 1 kg of sugar, 7 tbsp. l. lemon juice and 8 tbsp. l. water. Mix. Heat over high heat for a few minutes, then reduce heat, stir, cover and simmer for 40 minutes. Open the lid every 8-10 minutes and mix thoroughly. After this time, the sugar should completely melt and begin to bubble. Remove the lid and boil the mass for another 5 minutes, uncovered. Then pour into a container (preferably plastic) in which the composition will be stored.
After 3 hours the mass will cool down enough to be used.
You can store cooked pasta in the refrigerator or at room temperature. When using again, you only need to heat it in a water bath.
Recipe 2. One time
10 art. l. sugar, juice of half a lemon, 1 tbsp. l. water. Cook until golden yellow, 10-15 minutes.
To use, a small ball is plucked off, thoroughly kneaded in the hands until it becomes soft and viscous and acquires a milky color. Then it is slightly stretched, applied to the skin against hair growth and pressed tightly. Now it needs to be plucked as quickly and sharply as possible in the direction of hair growth. The procedure is repeated until all the hairs in this area are removed. Remains of the compositionwashed off with warm water, and a cream is applied to the skin.
Tip
Paste for hair removal in the bikini area is better to prepare without lemon juice with the addition of honey.
Let me remind you that the proportions of the components can be slightly changed.
At first glance, it may seem that sugaring is a very laborious method. But after all, everyone chooses for themselves. Everywhere has its drawbacks. Hair removal using an epilator, for example, takes a lot of time, and besides, after each use, you need to clean the device. Although shaving is the fastest and easiest method, it also has to be done more often, while endlessly buying shaving creams and changing cassettes on the machine. It is worth trying everything to choose the best option.
Thus, shugaring is one of the convenient and affordable ways of hair removal, which can be done both in the salon and at home.
