The first who decided to move away from their usual activities and try their hand at perfumery were Priscilla Presley (the widow of the king of rock and roll) and tennis player Gabriela Sabbatini. In the distant 80s, these women released perfume under their own name, and then they made a splash. Today, no one can surprise anyone with their own perfume. Fragrant lines have become a trend: they are launched by singers, actors, models and even football players.
Smell of success
The first Russian perfume "named after myself" was released, of course, by the prima donna of the national stage Alla Pugacheva. It was presented in 1990, and the creator was Antonina Vitkovskaya. Later, in an interview, the singer said that the composition Boucheron Pour Femme served as inspiration.
None of the stars decided on such an experiment, and only in 1996 it appeared on the shelves of stores - the fragrance "Angelika Varum". Pink perfume waspresented to romantic and feminine girls who are immersed in themselves, in their feelings and have a fine mental organization. It is easy to guess who became the muse for their creation. This is exactly what the famous French perfumer Jacques Cavalier saw the singer in the 90s. By the way, at that time, rare Russian fragrances always had samplers with the inscription Echantillon. Needless to say, the composition Anjelika Varum was also included in that very rare case.
Fragrance Description
When the perfume hit the stores, the price was not the lowest. Firstly, the cost was influenced by the country of production, or rather, the delivery of ready-made essences from France. Secondly, the composition, in principle, could not be accessible to everyone, although it was presented in the usual concentration of perfumes for the post-Soviet space, but it was produced in the form of a spray, which turned out to be too chic for that time.
The top notes were blackcurrant, forest lily of the valley and the freshness of alpine greens, smoothly flowing into the "heart". The central chords were revealed by the fragrance of a green rose, lilac and the tenderness of a white lily. Amber accents, woody nuances that were barely audible, and Tibetan musk participated in the formation of the composition's trail.
The only flanker
After 6 years, the Kalina concern released the first and, as it turned out, the last analogue of the Anzhelika Varum perfume. This time, the aromatic essence called "Heart Notes" is dressed inpurple bottle and was fresh, which brought back memories of my youth. It is worth noting that the original version was more delicate and feminine.
The top accords of pear, bergamot, herbs, melon, plum and peach created the finest melody, which, enveloping with its touching, prepared to get acquainted with the floral heart of the fragrance. The central notes pleased with the fragrance of the bouquet, which included only the most beautiful plants: roses, orchids, freesias, lilies of the valley, violets, iris and jasmine. The only thing that reminded me of the original was the train. Musk, amber still sounded here, and woody nuances came from somewhere far away.
Unfortunately, both fragrances have long been discontinued. According to one version, the reason for this was the falsifications that literally filled the domestic market, because the design of the bottle was incredibly simple. Another legend says that the singer herself stopped the release of the perfume, revoking the license.
What they were - we are unlikely to know, but it's probably worth trying to find something like that.
Perfume similar to "Angelika Varum": fragrance Orchid
Perhaps the closest analogue to the original sound can be called the composition "Orchid" from the company "New Dawn". The pyramid of perfumes released in 2001 is utterly simple:
- Top notes: pink pepper.
- "Heart": lily of the valley and rose.
- Base: musk.
Despite all the similarities with the famous perfume of the 90s, prepare to receive the following disappointments:
- Noboxes. The essence is in the most ordinary bottle, which is packaged in a pale pink bag decorated with artificial flowers.
- As it turned out, there is no orchid in the composition, so it is not clear where the name came from. Of course, there is a similarity, only it was achieved due to the presence of "peppercorn".
- The staying power with the sillage was not so good either. No, on clothes and accessories like a scarf and scarves, the smell lasts all day, but, alas, it leaves the skin in an instant.
The general verdict of customers: there is definitely a similarity with Anjelika Varum, but if the smell of the original has never bothered, then Orchid starts to turn back after a month of use. Therefore, "wearing" the composition is recommended for important events, but not as an everyday perfume.
Guerlain Champs Elysees
This fragrance can safely be called a luxury analogue. Interestingly, they were presented in the same year as "Angelika Varum". Perhaps that is why there is a similarity between them? And if in the last version the sophistication and femininity of the Russian singer served as a muse for creation, then the Champs Elysees became the inspiration for the first composition - a place that has become a symbol of prestige and influence of those who find themselves in the constant movement of Paris.
Flowery-fruity Champs Elysees opens with hints of blackcurrant, harmoniously resonating with almond blossoms. Transparent rose, sounding in the "heart", softens the sudden impulses of mimosa. By the way, this is the first perfume in the world thatsing all the beauty of this plant. At the heart of the composition is the softness of almond wood, complemented by sensual notes of hibiscus seeds.
Sarantis B. U. Wild
It is worth noting that "B. U. Wild" is slightly inferior in its similarity, but many customers found echoes of "Angelika Varum" in its sound. If you are looking for an analogue, then we have two good news: first, the composition is still being released; the second - compared to others, has an affordable price, as it is focused on the mass market.
Launched in 2006, the fragrance belongs to two families at once: floral and green. The opening chord forms a duet of water lily and galbanum. The "heart" opens with spicy carnation accents, which smoothly turn into a bouquet of rose, strawberry and jasmine. There is only one component in the base - musk.
Pleasures Bloom
This fragrance from "Estée Lauder" was also named by the customers as a close analogue of "Angelika Varum" perfume. Reviews say that there is still a difference. Despite all the beauty of the sound, its smell seemed distant to many. Yes, and the train proved to be different.
An interesting fact: there were rumors that the domestic perfume, named after the singer, was originally produced as a Russian clone of Pleasures Bloom. Although the customers noted that the version of the Kalina concern turned out to be softer and much more interesting than its prototype.
So, juiciness sounds in the initial notes of Estee Lauder Pleasures Bloom perfumefruits: raspberry, grapefruit and lychee. Heart accords are expressed by a bouquet of flowers: lily, peony, violet, jasmine and rose. The base features musk with vanilla, complemented by patchouli leaves.
In Pleasure, the heart notes are completely different, and you can feel this difference only after application, since the same essence smells completely different in the bottle and on the skin. Also, over time, the sound becomes deeper.
Thus, our story called "Look for a woman in pink" is over, and we boldly proceed to the next chapter, where we will try to find analogues of perfume from Angelica Varum "Notes of the Heart", which were previously produced in a purple bottle.
J'adore by Dior
It was the composition "Jador" from "Christian Dior" that the customers called the most similar fragrance. True, the product from Kalina, compared to the branded perfume, was rich and amazingly durable. Amazing, isn't it? Nevertheless, of all existing analogues, J'adore is considered the closest, although it appeared three years earlier than Heart Notes.
The symbol of absolute femininity is based on the interweaving of exotic shades of ylang-ylang, which gave the initial chords a floral-fruity sound. In the "heart" a luxurious damask rose grown in Turkey is fragrant. It is echoed by a harmonious duet of two types of jasmine: sambac and Grasse. The base hides a rather unexpected quartet, consisting of blackberries, musk, Texas cedar and vanilla.
Bloom Nettare Di Fiori
The second analogue of perfume was found by customers in the collection of the Gucci brand. At first glance, it may seem strange that the floral "Heart Note" was found in the sound of the Italian brand's chypre composition. But the reviews of several dozen women are unlikely to lie, so it remains to trust their "nose". In any case, if you do not find anything in common between them, do not worry, Bloom Nettare Di Fiori will be a stunning addition to your stylish evening dress.
Olfactory pyramid of perfume consists of the following notes:
- Top: ginger and rose.
- Middle: honeysuckle, tuberose & jasmine.
- Base: osmanthus, patchouli & musk.
I would like to finish the theme of analogues of the perfume "Angelika Varum" by the fact that many women still remember how beautiful the "heart" of this composition sounded. Even after they were taken out of production, the customers did not stop trying to find the coveted bottle in stores, they collected it from relatives and friends, and especially fanatical ladies bought at auctions for big money.
