The tunic is the upper part of the field, festive and everyday uniform with a special cut, which is used in many countries of the world by employees of internal organs and the military.
History of the tunic in Russia
The exact origin of the word has not yet been established. It came into use from the German language and means a dressing gown or blouse.
In Russia, the first tunic is a long canvas jacket, which appeared in the 18th century as a garment for chores of lower cavalry ranks. Later, this name was transferred to an officer's white frock coat for the warm season. So he became a linen double-breasted closed jacket with twelve buttons, elongated floors and a stand-up collar. The tunic was necessarily worn with shoulder straps. It was shortened many times in accordance with fashion trends, and at the beginning of the 20th century it reached the length of a familiar jacket.
In the Russian Navy, the tunic is part of the uniform in white and blue tones with five buttons in the clasp. Shortly before the war, the blue tunic began to be used in aviation as clothing for various jobs.
Foreign influences
In the navy, air forces and army during the Second World War, tunics became widespreadupdated look, which resembled the models of France and England. They began to call them french. The tailoring of the collar became the main accent of the design; it could be with a soft stand, like a tunic collar with buttons, or turn-down. There were also overhead large pockets with fasteners on the floors. Among the pilots of that time, the tunic is an English-style jacket with a turned collar and the ability to wear it under a tie.
The most varied cut in tunics appeared by 1918. The decree was complied with only in the navy, front-line formations and headquarters. But the new Naval and War Minister also removed this order. He preferred a free-style French tunic. Many commanders-in-chief of armed associations soon followed his example. The old uniform was altered to fit the new model, but not everyone followed this order, as a result, a single sample of the tunic also disappeared in the fleet.
Ceremonial tunic
In the internal organs and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the tunic is also the dress uniform, which does not differ from the everyday one in either color or cut. In the documentation, a tunic for women is referred to as a jacket. With the exception of the internal organs and the Armed Forces, the uniform is usually called a jacket. In the navy, a white and blue tunic is not used, but such a name as a jacket is used.
