Today, perhaps, only a person who is very far from the world of decorative cosmetics and not interested in novelties in the world of beauty has not heard of cracking varnish, or in other words - craquelure, from the French "craquelure" - a crack in the paint on the canvas. Although this novelty has already firmly entered our lives, let's take a closer look at this varnish, around which there are many legends.
Cracking varnish can be roughly divided into 2 types:
- the so-called "filamentous" varnish, which after application forms very thin cracks, through which the base varnish is practically not visible;
- the second type is sometimes called "fence" due to the fact that the cracks are large and the main tone is clearly visible through them. In this case, it is the contrast of the base and the coating that creates the inimitable and unique manicure effect.
Most of the myths around this novelty appeared due to the fact that people simply did not know how to properly apply cracking varnish. So,consider in order the stages of applying varnish.
- First of all, you need to clean the nail and degrease it, otherwise the main lower tone will peel off very quickly, even if you use resistant nail polish for this purpose.
- Apply a basic, basic tone to a clean nail. Before starting a manicure, carefully consider color combinations.
Important! Wait for the first layer to dry completely before applying the craquelure. If the varnish base does not dry completely, then the craquelure will not give the necessary cracks, but will simply lie on top with another layer of varnish.
- Apply a thin layer of cracking varnish, leaving a little visible base tone. We are waiting for complete drying.
- Fix the coating with a layer of colorless varnish.
Important! In order to achieve the effect of a fine mesh of cracks, take the minimum amount of varnish on the brush. So the craquelure layer will turn out thin, therefore, a thread-like pattern will remain on the nails.
Color plays an important role in craquelure. With the help of a successful combination of colors, you can make both a sharp and aggressive manicure, as well as a more traditional and feminine one. If you want to create a modern look, then it is better to use contrasting colors in dark tones, for example, yellow and blue, pink and dark green. If you want to create a more classic look, then choose colors that combine with each other, at least in nature. A good solution would be to apply almost any color on a white base. Also well suited as a base silver tones and varnishes withsequins. For a base, Chanel nail polish is well suited because of its excellent durability. In this case, the price justifies the quality of the coating.
An important point: you can not apply cracking varnish on a clean nail without a base. The fact is that the varnish simply will not crack. Besides, it will look more like a shabby and sloppy manicure.
It is also not recommended to use earthy varnish, as most likely the effect of cracked earth will turn out. Other frankly unsuccessful combinations include red and blue, red and green, as well as orange and blue. Alternatively, you can combine different shades of the same color, such as dark red and pink.
