They contain vitamins, minerals and polyunsaturated fatty acids, so for many women they become an alternative to other cosmetics because of their naturalness, low cost and versatility. What kinds are there?
There are three types of oils:
- Vegetable.
- Mineral.
- Essential.
Vegetable oils
Vegetable oils are made from fatty oil plants (sunflower, soybeans, rapeseed, hemp), fruits (organic olive oil and palm) and nuts (hazelnuts, walnuts, coconut, pistachio) containing triglycerides. Oils are divided into fatty liquid and solid. Liquid oils are refined and unrefined.
In cosmetology, unrefined oils are used, which, without additional processing, contain more vitamins and polyunsaturated acids than refined oils.
Liquid oils should preferably be stored in glass containers in a cool place. Due to their rich composition, these products are ideal for making natural cosmetic cream for face and body, which will have healing and regenerating properties.
Solid oils - those that have a solid structure, but upon contact with the skin begin to melt. They are used to make lip balm, scrub and soap. These oils are stored in a cool, dry place.
Most used
In today's world there is a huge amount of organic oils used in cosmetology. Consider the most popular, common base oils.
- Argan oil is produced from the argan fruit grown in Morocco. The polyphenols and tocopherols contained in it help with dry and problematic skin. It also has anti-inflammatory properties and helps reduce stretch marks. Creams based on argan oils show rejuvenating and soothing properties.
- Peanut oil is used for dermatitis. It moisturizes, softens and tones the skin.
- Organic coconut oil is used for normal to sensitive skin.
- Almond oil is a base oil with strong antioxidants, moisturizes and nourishes the skin, and is popular all over the world.
- Grape seed oil regulates sebum secretion and smoothes wrinkles.
- Sesame oil is used for dry skin and contains many vitamins and minerals.
- Jojoba oil is used as an excellent moisturizer for all skin types.
A good result will be obtained if the necessary oil is selected correctly and individually. Vegetable oils can be mixed, this will enhance their effect. You can also add essential oils.
Mineral oils
Mineral oils are produced by refining petroleum products. The oil has neither color nor odor and does not need preservatives. When applied to the skin, it creates a thin film and does not allow moisture to evaporate. But the disadvantage of this oil is that toxins also remain in the skin, which stops breathing. Pores become clogged, acne and allergic rashes often occur. The effect on the skin of mineral oil is purely formal, and it is better not to use it before playing sports, as prickly heat may appear.
Essential oils
Essential oils, like organic ones, are a natural product and are widely used in cosmetology. They are used for the prevention of various diseases and are used in aromatherapy, for aromatizing housing. In ordinary language, it is a mixture of volatile substances obtained fromplants. Poorly soluble in water. Organic essential oils are not used in their pure form because they can cause irritation. Mild redness of the skin after oil application may be normal.
The difference between vegetable oils and mineral oils
Mineral oils, unlike organic oils, only moisturize the skin, nothing more. They do not contain any vitamins, antioxidants, polyunsaturated fats. Vegetable oil quickly deteriorates, it is stored from 3 to 6 months. And the mineral does not oxidize for a long time. Therefore, natural products are much more expensive than cosmetics with mineral oils.
Using organic oils for hair and body
Oils must be of good quality, since they have a short shelf life, you need to smell the product, if the smell is unpleasant, then you can not use it. It is better to choose virgin oils. Apply to damp skin. Mixed oils are used on the skin of the body once or twice a week. In order for the product to show all its good properties, you can add essential oils, since the basic vegetable oils are a conductor into the deeper layers of the skin.
Before applying the cream, you need to use a scrub. You need to know how to properly apply oil on the skin of the face. It is added to a moisturizer or used as an independent remedy. If the skin is dry, then oil is applied both during the day and in the evening. And if the skin is oily, then it is necessary to apply at night. Also, vegetable oils are used for massage, for this one is suitable or you canmake a mix of several types, but not more than five.
It is advisable to take cold-pressed organic body butter. For any skin type, palm, cocoa, jojoba are suitable. For hair, you can also use oil, but not more than 1-3 times a week. If the strands are prone to fat, then the procedure is carried out once a week, and if dry, then it is better 2-3 times a month. Using essential oils for hair solves most hair problems.
Organic hair oils, properly selected to their structure, help to get rid of many problems, restore and strengthen. Patchouli oil and citrus essential oils can be used to speed up hair growth. They have a firming effect, improve blood circulation of the scalp. And from loss it is better to use tea tree oil or rosemary. If the hair is oily, lemon oil, chamomile oil will do, and if the hair is thin, then lavender will be ideal. The main thing is not to abuse the application.
Recently there has been a debate about the positive and negative aspects of vegetable and mineral oils. Vegetable oils, for example, despite their naturalness, can cause allergies, and essential oils, when used in perfumery, do not retain their aroma for long, but it is obvious that our skin and our body need natural oils. But you need to observe moderation in their use.
