Remember those annoying ads?
- She looks amazing!
- Why, in a new dress…
- It's not new, it was just washed with Laska!
Of course, all self-respecting housewives said: "Another duck!", and the next day they bought two packs of a magical remedy, although no, three: you still need a white one!
Do you know that even "Weasel" can harm your underwear? What matters is not only what you wash with, but also how you do it: with love and tenderness, following all the rules indicated on the label, or rudely and unceremoniously, in the washing machine, while the badges on clothes literally beg for the opposite. What kind of mysterious assistants manage not only the fate of things, but also your own life? What do the laundry icons on clothes mean? More on this later in the article.
Icons=deciphering the label?
It is impossible to put an equal sign between the concepts "icon" and "label". Let's look into this issue in more detail.
The label, as a rule, is sewn on the left side of the inside of the product and is a small rectangular piece of fabric. A cut line is marked on it (dashed line with scissors), that is, these "extra" parts are often removed. This is done so that the labels do not cause discomfort when wearing clothes. However, it is not worth getting rid of a small and insignificant, at first glance, detail, because you can learn a lot of interesting and really important things from it.
Production country
Of course, most often the label will say the already bored "Made in China", but if suddenly you are lucky enough to meet a variety: Turkey, Hungary, and suddenly even Italy, Germany - know, most likely you have quality products in your hands. However, in many boutiques, China is very, very good today.
Product material
It is also important to know what fabric the item you want to purchase is made of. And the point here can be not only in comfort (for example, in cotton clothes, as a rule, perspiration is much less than, say, in polyester), more and more consumers in our time suffer from allergies (both synthetics and wool). Therefore, often ignorance of the material from which clothing is made can lead to he alth problems, or even become a threat to life.
Badges on clothes
Another significant, and maybe the mostimportant element. Neither the quality of the product nor the fabric matters if, after the first wash, the item goes into the wastebasket. What do the badges on the clothes mean? How will this knowledge help? You probably know that at high temperatures or a large number of spin cycles, your favorite warm clothes can "sit down" and fit only a small teddy bear. Knowing how to decipher the icons on clothes for washing can make life much easier for every housewife. Let's figure it out together.
Badges on clothes. Transcription
For convenience, we will present the material in a structured form and conditionally divide it into categories: washing, drying, ironing, dry cleaning. The symbols themselves (pictures from the labels) are numbered, and a description is attached to each of them.
Badges on laundry clothes
1 - In the image we see an ordinary basin of water. This suggests that the thing can be washed under any conditions (of your choice). However, in recent years, these badges have become less and less common on clothes, which greatly facilitate the life of housewives.
2 - Infrequently you can meet with a basin filled with water crossed out with a cross. This designation of badges on clothes is completely opposite to the previous one. Washing is prohibited, any: even machine, even hand. You can call him "dirty darling".
3 - The hand, lowered into a basin of water, as an icon on clothes, states that only hand washing is possible for this item. Quite often, such a designation is found on things with prints, rhinestones and otherdecorative elements. Also on the basins, the temperature at which one or another thing can be washed can be indicated. The degree varies from 30 to (just imagine!) 95 degrees.
The last badges on clothes are, of course, extremely rare, but they say that it can even be boiled if necessary. Things with this designation are a real salvation for hospitals, as well as for young parents (sometimes you have to boil diapers in order to get rid of a full bouquet of various stains and odors).
4 - The first icon on clothes with the indicated temperature on it means that the thing can only be washed at this degree mode. There are no special instructions regarding the number of spin revolutions or other characteristics.
5 - If, in addition to the number indicating degrees, you see one short line under the pelvis, then it's time to use a delicate wash with fewer spins. The temperature in this case must be observed even more carefully.
6 - Another temperature badge on clothing is the pelvis, underlined with two short stripes. It is possible that they are located in the same line with a small gap (as shown in the figure).
You can also see the stripes stacked one above the other. In this case, the decoding of the icons on the clothes for washing is identical: delicate mode with a lot of water with a gentle spin and a quick rinse.
Badges on whitening clothes
7 - There is an icon in the form of a white triangle, which means that whencleaning, you can use absolutely any bleach, even with chlorine content. If "Cl" is written inside the triangle, then bleaching is also not prohibited, but cold water is required, the powder must be completely dissolved. You can see the similarity of such icons in the picture.
8 - An icon on clothes with a white triangle crossed through says that bleaching is prohibited. A categorical taboo is imposed on substances that contain chlorine. Here's what the badges on the clothes mean. No need to take risks - it is unlikely that your enthusiasm will lead to a positive result.
Badges on clothes for ironing
9 - The most ordinary iron on the icon without any additional symbols on it indicates that you can iron your wonderful things marked in this way without the slightest fear. Moreover, even machine ironing is allowed.
If you see a white iron crossed out, then the thing cannot be ironed at all. Only option with steamer at minimum temperatures is possible.
10 - White iron with one dot inside. The decoding of these icons on clothes is simple: the item should be ironed at a minimum temperature, namely no more than 120 degrees (which corresponds to the number 1 or one point on the iron). The delicate mode of ironing is explained by the materials from which this or that thing is made: in our case, it is most likely polyamide, acetate, nylon or something similar, here we include silk.
11 - Iron and two black dots on it can be equated to the ironing modemore than 130 degrees (number 2 or a pair of dots). Often this designation can be found on clothes made of viscose or wool.
12 - Finally, the designation of icons on clothes in the form of an iron with three dots - the maximum temperature regime and the minimum number of problems for you. You can safely iron such things at 200 degrees. The number 3 on the iron or three dots. This category includes our favorite summer breathable fabrics: linen and cotton.
Badges on dry-cleaning clothes
13 - A plain white circle on the tag indicates that the item can be dry cleaned without the use of any liquid products.
14 - The letter A in a circle means that clothes can be dry-cleaned with a clear conscience: any means are applied to them without harm "to he alth".
15 - With the letter P, everything is not so simple: in this case, only substances that contain hydrocarbons, monofluorotrichloromethane, ethylene chloride can be used for dry cleaning.
16 - An F in a white circle warns that you can use white spirit for dry cleaning, as well as hydrocarbons and trifluorotrichloromethane.
17 - The badge on the clothes, identical to that which was described at number 15. There are no fundamental differences between them - the only difference is that clothes marked with such a sign with a dash at the bottom require a more careful approach.
18 - Same story as the previous image. Characteristics are identical to sign number 16, but the line at the bottom needs more delicate cleaning.
Badges on clothes for drying
19 - The icon with the image of a circle enclosed in a square (by the way, this is a washing machine) means that the item can be safely wrung out and then dried in an automatic washing machine.
20 - If you see an icon that painfully resembles the option that allows everything, with the only difference being that this time the machine is crossed out with a cross, resist the first desire to dry your clothes thoroughly in the "washer"! This designation conjures: do not wring out and do not dry in an automatic machine.
21 - When one dot appears inside the painted car, turn on the gentle mode and lower the drying temperature as much as possible. However, it is still valid.
22 - It's easier with two dots inside the machine: you can dry at any temperature, including high ones, which are most often set automatically when drying in a washing machine.
23 - A square with an arc inside has recently been seen less and less on labels: it is going out of fashion. Such an icon indicates that the thing can be dried on a clothesline (well, you never know - it will come in handy).
24 - A square with three vertical stripes inside means that this item can only be dried vertically. It is important that it also cannot be wrung out (should be hung so that the water gradually drains from the clothes itself).
25 - A white square with one stripe on the inside convinces us of the opposite than the lines in the previous case: the item can only be dried in a horizontal position.
Do not press
The icons on clothing labels, which depict a twisted towel crossed out with a cross, clearly indicate that spinning is prohibited, and in any form: even in a washing machine, even by hand. It's worth remembering this image as well, so that your things do not turn into stretched clothes for a lanky basketball player (or a giant - whichever degree of fantasy you prefer).
In closing
Take care of your belongings and don't let your favorite blouse or woolen sweater turn into useless trash. By the way, do not ignore what your daughters bring from technology lessons at school - sometimes they teach useful things there. For example, it is at school that your beauty for the first time will have the opportunity to understand the numerous icons on clothing labels. If you didn’t have time to do this, the article will be useful for you.
