He who visits in the morning, he acts wisely.
To this it remains to add that guests with gifts are welcome at any time of the day. It's nice to receive gifts, but it's just as nice to give them. The most valuable gift is the one made with your own hands and with love. If you prefer to buy a gift, then we offer to pack it yourself. It is not as difficult as it seems at first glance. If you connect fantasy and desire, you can get an original and unusual present. In this article, you will get a clear guide on how to beautifully wrap a gift in wrapping paper.
Choosing packaging
The first thing to do is to choose a package for a gift. Speci alty stores sell bags, boxes, paper, cardboard and much more. Packages and boxes are expensive and do not always look interesting. This is a "quick fix" option. Cutting cardboard packaging requires some skill and experience. But paper is a great option to wrap a gift yourself. It's simple, but if you approach itprocess creatively, it will turn out unusually and with a "zest".
The choice of wrapping paper is very large: sheet, glossy, plain, patterned, foil, craft, tissue, polysilk.
Tissue is also called cigarette wrapping paper. She is light and airy. It is often chosen as filling or for wrapping non-standard gifts. Polysilk is similar to a dense and elastic film; it is easy for them to wrap a gift of any shape. With it, you can make drapery, a variety of harnesses and braids.
If you have no experience with packaging, choose a thicker paper, it holds its shape better and is more durable. Foil paper tends to rub off on the folds, so don't use it for gifts with sharp corners.
Preparing for packing
How to wrap a gift in paper beautifully? There are many wrap options. The main thing is that the result pleases not only you, but also the future owner of the gift.
Choose a level place and prepare the necessary tools. Depending on the packing method, you may need:
- wrapping paper;
- scissors;
- measuring tape and ruler;
- double-sided and regular tape;
- glue;
- decoration materials.
Let's talk about the decor below, and now let's get down to the magic!
Gift rectangular or square
Most often we give something in a rectangular or square box. We hasten to please you - such a gift is the easiest to pack. It is important to correctly calculate the amount of paper required for packaging. If there is too much of it, then ugly creases will turn out, if it is not enough, you will have to start from the beginning.
How to measure the right amount of paper? Mathematics will come to the rescue. A rectangle needs to be cut.
One side is long. To do this, use a measuring tape to measure all four sides of the box around the perimeter and add about 3 centimeters to this (for the hem).
The second side is short. To calculate it, add: 1 box length + 2 box heights.
Now follow the simple algorithm:
- Put the gift in the center of the received sheet.
- Fold 5-10 millimeters of paper across the entire width on the right side and secure with tape.
- Wrap the box, pulling the paper tightly. Our folded edge should be on top, closer to the edge of the box, so that it is invisible.
- The remaining pieces of paper around the edges should be the same length.
- Carefully wrap the sides of the package, pressing it tightly against the box.
Gift round shape
Such a gift is usually not difficult to pack. We will cover two simple options:
- Candy. Even a child can cope with such packaging! It is enough to take a sheet of paper, put a gift in the center and wrap it. Tie the remaining "tails" with twine or thread. Voila! The question of how to wrap a gift in gift paper has been resolved.
- Cylinder. Necessaryalso wrap the gift with paper, but before that, cut off the long tails. Above and below we leave the amount of paper equal to the radius of the bottom or lid. After that, make neat folds of paper, stacking them clockwise. Use tape to secure them in the center.
Packaging made using the "candy" method can be used not only for round gifts, but also for soft items (sweater, T-shirt, socks, etc.). Pre-wrap the thing in thick paper to form a cylinder, secure the resulting design with tape and then beautifully wrap the surprise in gift paper, as described above.
Paper boxes
Try making a gift wrapping box. For this, it is best to choose thick scrapbooking paper. It is sold in craft stores. We offer a step-by-step master class below:
Wrapping a gift for a child
Children will be delighted with colorfully wrapped gifts. Use all kinds of colors and unusual decorations.
Try wrapping the gift in paper like a snowball. It's fun and easy. The main thing is to buy more packaging material, and to make the idea even better, use several color options.
Instruction:
Step 1. Put the gift in the center of the sheet and start randomly wrapping the gift with paper.
Step 2. When you finish the first layer, start the second. Do itthese actions until the paper runs out. Children like this way of packaging because they simply tear off one layer of paper after another, trying to get to the desired gift as soon as possible.
You can also use a box that is larger than the gift itself to pack. Put a small box inside a large box, fill the remaining space with beautiful voluminous paper. Put some candy in there or something that will please the child while he "gets" to the very gift.
Custom Gifts
What about irregularly shaped gifts? Most often, they simply buy a package for them and solemnly hand it over to the hero of the occasion. Let's try to diversify this option with a few more.
Make the package yourself. To do this, you will need: paper, adhesive tape, a hole punch to make holes, and tape. If you do not have a hole punch, you can simply wrap and seal the top of the package, decorating with a bow or other decorative element. In this case, the design will not be any worse.
Tip: It's best to use craft paper when making the bag.
Use cardboard. Take a custom gift and cut out a cardboard base to fit it. Place the gift, cover with cardboard on top and wrap in paper.
You can fill an ordinary store-bought gift bag with wrapping paper cut into ribbons! This will add volume and complete the presentation.
Themed packaging
It's easy to learn how to wrap a gift like a pro. NecessarilyConsider the theme of the holiday and select the appropriate design. Much depends on who and on what occasion you present a gift: the choice of paper, its color, as well as decor.
For a colleague or business partner, keep it simple and opt for neutral hues like blue or green.
Family, friends and children, you can present gifts in the design that they like best, from pink ponies to phonograph records as decoration.
Use flowers and lace for wedding wrapping.
Christmas gifts are decorated with spruce branches, garlands, wreaths, cinnamon and tangerines.
Does your friend like music? Wrap the gift in music paper.
Girlfriend prefers vintage? Feel free to take out the black and white newspaper to pack.
Design and decor
So we got to the cherry on the cake! Decorating the box will help not only emphasize the individuality of the gift, but also hide small flaws if they were made during the packaging process.
For decoration, ribbons or braid are most often chosen. We suggest not to stop there. Use for gift decoration:
- threads,
- buttons,
- all kinds of twigs,
- toys,
- pompons,
- confetti,
- real flowers
- and even chocolates!
You can buy a ready-made bow onbox, but it is better to decorate the gift with a beautiful satin ribbon. You can choose the desired width and color of the tape. To do it beautifully and correctly, you need to know some of the nuances. Here is a tutorial video on how to tie up a gift box:
