A tuxedo is a men's suit, which is the most elegant and suitable for the most solemn occasions. It should be perfectly matched and fitted to the figure. This category of clothing does not depend on fashion trends, it retains the traditions of a classic men's suit.
A bit of history
The origin of the tuxedo is associated with tobacco brought to England from the colonies in the 17th century and the fashion for smoking it, which began to spread very quickly. Since it was not permissible for gentlemen to smoke in the presence of ladies, rooms specially designed for this appeared. At the same time, a tradition arose to wear a special dressing gown at home - a dressing gown, the distinguishing feature of which was the satin trim of the sleeves and collar. Etiquette even allowed to receive guests in such clothes.
The advantage of this wardrobe detail was convenience, as it did not hinder movement. Somewhat later, a men's tuxedo, designed for smoking, appeared. Since it combined elegance and comfort, the silk collars and sleeves perfectly shook off the ashes, it quickly gained popularity.
What's interesting, the men of hisput on just before entering the smoking room. Coming out of it, they filmed it. But over time, the tuxedo has become more and more part of the daily life of men.
The fact that this costume was recognized in the highest circles is confirmed by the fact that in the middle of the 19th century the first tuxedo for the Prince of Wales was sewn. But at the same time, the tuxedo was inferior in importance to the tailcoat and for a long time was worn exclusively for not very important events.
Features
Modern tuxedo is a suit that has bright differences from everyday. The main ones, which are hard to miss, are satin inserts. On trousers you can see stripes, and on jackets - lapels made of this material. But a tuxedo is a whole ensemble, including a special shirt, a satin sash (a special belt), a handkerchief for a pocket square and a bow tie. And also the necessary details are classic black unpaquered leather boots and socks of a similar tone.
The vest must be made of the same material as the jacket, it fastens with satin buttons.
A watch should not be worn with a tuxedo, watches on a chain are acceptable.
Dress code
Invitations to official receptions and status events often contain an indication of the acceptable dress code. For men, the generally accepted wording "white tie" or "black tie" is usually provided. If the first means a tailcoat, then the second is a tuxedo. When such information is not available, then it will be sufficientclassic suit for the evening.
Secrets of choice
The modern color palette is very rich in colors, but according to existing rules, a black tuxedo is worn in winter, and white is preferred in summer. If the protocol does not have to be followed, then you can opt for a different shade.
This costume is made from wool. The shirt must be made of cotton or silk. But experiments with the texture of the fabric are acceptable in order to highlight this piece of clothing more.
Tuxedos can be single or double breasted. According to etiquette, both options are possible. The choice depends on the complexion and age of the man. To look more presentable, a young man of a slender physique should give preference to a double-breasted jacket. Single-breasted, on the other hand, is able to hide extra pounds and is suitable for men of a more mature age.
According to new fashion trends, a tuxedo is no longer only a suit from a man's wardrobe, more and more often you can see women wearing it. But at the same time, the female version does not have an equivalent status with the male one.
