Persol - glasses famous all over the world. They are loved by athletes and travelers, soldiers and movie stars. A distinctive feature of all products of this brand is a relaxed, but very expressive and bright style.
History and geography
Few people know how it all began. Persol - glasses that appeared in the midst of the First World War. Their homeland is the Italian city of Turin.
They owe their appearance to local photographer Giuseppe Ratti, whose innate curiosity and professional duty pushed him to a military airfield, where he communicated with pilots. In conversations about the hardships of a soldier's life, the photographer was surprised to find that almost the most sworn enemy of the pilot is the blinding sun. A photographer familiar with optics decided to make his contribution to support the army and set about inventing glasses that would be comfortable to wear and protect from the sun as much as possible.
His first creation was born in 1917 and was named Protector. The glasses were made of brown lenses, worn with an elastic band. The pioneer was Francesco De Pinedo, who made a transatlantic flight in these glasses. Coming soon newspread widely through the ranks of the Italian air forces.
But it wasn't debut yet. Years will pass before the whole world talks about Persol. Glasses of this brand appeared again decades later - in 1957. They were designed for Turin drivers to provide wind and dust protection. The model received the number 0649 and today has become a true classic of Persol. Glasses numbered 2978, which were released almost immediately after the previous ones, are now also considered classics of Italian style.
For almost a century of history, the geography of production has never changed. Points "Persol" both produced and continue to be produced at the Turin plant Lauriano. Moreover, most of the production processes are carried out manually.
