In the days of the Soviet Union, you could buy Triple cologne in any perfume department. It cost a penny, there were no queues behind it, so it was not always used for its intended purpose. The history of this "Cologne water" has more than three centuries, and it was conceived not at all as a perfume, but as a kind of elixir with miraculous properties, capable of healing almost all the diseases of the world. The instructions clearly indicated that this remedy was able to protect against the plague, remove poison from the body, cure jaundice, colic, burns, etc. It also added beauty, giving the skin a smooth and beautiful complexion.
So the Triple Cologne was a remedy. But this lasted until Napoleon issued a decree in 1810, which required the disclosure of recipes for absolutely all healing elixirs, potions and
other so-called drugs. The producers of Cologne Water did not want to reveal their secrets, so they added several fragrant components to the cologne and declared that it was a perfume. In the new capacity, the miraculous elixir was also accepted with a bang, even the emperor himself was delightedFrom him. We can say that it was he and his army who “brought” the Triple Cologne to Russia when he went to conquer Moscow. Fortunately, he failed to do this, but the “vodichka”, which contained about 60 percent alcohol, took root very well. And, based on its composition, other perfumes began to be produced in the country.
But where did the name Triple Cologne come from? Its composition, perhaps, was some-
something mysterious? Not at all. Simply, in order to declare the drug a perfume, three aromatic components were added to it, namely: bergamot, lemon and neroli. Since then, the composition has remained virtually unchanged, although some modern manufacturers of this cologne also add lavender, geranium, nutmeg, coriander, sage (of course, in the form of essential oils) to it. Triple cologne can be found on sale without any problems, and it is, by today's standards, still inexpensive. Oddly enough, more and more girls are buying it, because they are convinced of its effectiveness against skin imperfections. On many women's forums, only compliments are poured into the address of this remedy, since it helped to get rid of acne for young (and not so) beauties.
Here, for example, this recipe is recommended: two packs of streptocide are added to the Triple Cologne, mixed and removed for ten days in a dark place so that everything is well dissolved and infused. After that, twice a day with a cotton swab dipped in the resulting solution, lubricate the affected areas on the skin. Also, colognebut in its pure form, it helps to relieve itching after mosquito bites. Some even manage to strengthen their hair, as well as relieve pain from arthritis and other similar diseases. The only drawback of the Cologne Water was its smell. But, since it is used exclusively for medicinal purposes, and not for perfumery purposes, it is quite possible to put up with such a disadvantage, especially since the effect of using this cologne is literally obvious.
