French braid is an elegant and at the same time simple hairstyle. It is suitable for study, and for the office, and for a regular walk, as it retains a neat appearance for a long time. If you decorate such a braid with a bright ribbon or decorative hairpins, fix it with varnish, you can safely go to a solemn event. Moreover, stylists quite often use French braids when creating wedding hairstyles, as they look very elegant.
It is not known who exactly invented the French braid. There is an assumption that it was invented by a French court hairdresser.
French braid features
French differs from the usual one in that weaving begins only with a small part of the hair, which is divided into three strands. During weaving, thin strands of loose hair from the sides join them all the time. Therefore, the braid turns out to be equally thick along the entire length.
French braid must be made from clean hair. If you washed your hair the day before, moisturize your hair before styling. If you think that your hair is not thick enough, you can pre-fluff it and comb it back.
The main strand for weaving that youwill be divided into three parts, should be quite thick. Then the braid will be thick and voluminous. In order for the hairstyle to be magnificent, the braid should not be tight and dense. To do this, after weaving, gently pull out thin strands with the sharp end of the comb.
If you want to make the weaving seem complicated, it is better to pick up very thin strands. It is important to weave new strands in turn, avoiding large gaps - this way the braid will be even and retain its shape for a long time.
If you need a French braid to last a very long time, you can use a styling product (mousse or gel), after moisturizing your hair. It is worth noting that it is better to entrust the construction of hairstyles for a gala event to another person.
If at first it will be difficult to weave a braid on yourself, try to make it from the tail first.
Be patient. Most likely, you will not be able to braid your braid the first time. But if you persevere, you will thank yourself later!
Tools and accessories
To make a beautiful and spectacular French braid yourself, you will need:
- two combs with frequent teeth: with a pointed end and with a round base;
- ste alth or hairpins;
- at least two mirrors located opposite each other. In this case, you will be able to see yourself from behind, and if there are more mirrors, then from the side;
- decorative elements and means for fixing styling - optional.
There are several ways to do French braids. Below are step by step instructions on how to weaveFrench braids of different types. These hairstyles are spectacular yet simple enough to be done without much prep.
1. Simple French braid
Weaving starts from the crown.
- Take a thick main strand and divide it into three parts. Make two elements of a regular braid.
- When braiding the braid, alternately grab part of the hair to the right of the strand to the right of it, and to the left - to the left (for convenience, loose curls can be prepared in advance by securing with invisibility).
- When you reach the back of your head, make sure all your hair is in a braid. Then braid it and secure with an elastic band. You can remove the hanging part of the braid inside and secure it with hairpins - it looks very elegant.
2. Bagel pigtails
If you need to keep your hair away from your face as much as possible, donut braids are worth a try. They are not difficult to make, but they look elegant. Even a homemade bagel from a sock will do for this hairstyle.
- Part in the middle and just behind the ears divide each side into front and back.
- French braids (pictured later in the article) neatly in the front sections. Secure the ends of the braids with elastic bands.
- Pull both braids and remaining hair into a low ponytail.
- Put the bagel on the ponytail so that it is located approximately in the middle of it, and evenly distribute the hair over it.
- Twist your hair, twisting the donut outward while maintaining tension to create a bunsmooth.
- When you reach the elastic band, secure the bundle securely with hairpins. The adorable French braid hairstyle is ready!
3. Adorable asymmetrical knot
Alternatively, you can try a diagonal French braid with a knot. This is a great option for both everyday activities and for a romantic date. This hairstyle takes no more than 10 minutes to complete if you have already mastered the French braid.
Instruction:
- Take a section of hair at your right temple and start braiding towards your left shoulder.
- Catch fairly large strands and don't pull them too tight for a voluminous hairstyle.
- Tie the end of the French braid with a thin elastic band.
- Starting from the end, twist the pigtail into a bun and secure with invisibility near the ear.
4. Side reverse
French braid "inside out" (it is also called Dutch) is no more difficult to perform than usual. The difference is that when braiding this braid, you need to skip the side strands under the middle one, and not above it. This gives the impression that the braid lies on the head. The Dutch braid can be made with three or more strands.
- Part the section where you will braid, separate the strand and fix it with an invisibility.
- Remove the invisible, comb and divide the separated strand into three equal parts.
- Braid two elements of a regular braid, queues skipping the side strands under the central one.
- Pick up a new curl on the right, attach it to the right strand of the braid. Pass this new strand under the middle one. Do the same on the left side.
- When part of the braid is done, secure the loose strands with a clip.
- Use your fingers or the sharp end of the comb to pull the loops out of the braid a little. It will become flatter.
- Remove the clip and braid the braid to the end. Make sure that all the hair on the left side of the head is woven into a braid. Repeat the previous point.
5. Reverse weave from bottom to top
As the name implies, this braid is woven from the bottom up, from the back of the head. This hairstyle looks intricate and very stylish.
- Tilt your head down and comb your hair well.
- Start the reverse French braid with small strands in the middle of the back of the head, near the top of the ears. As you move towards the crown, pick up all the larger strands.
- When all the hair is in a braid, tie it with an elastic band and either make a bun, or braid it to the end and roll it into a bun.
- Fix the bun or bun with hairpins or bobby pins and add a cute accessory like a small bow.
6. Reverse braids from bottom to top with buns
If you have already figured out how to French braid "inside out" from the bottom up, you can move on to two such braids. This option is great for a fun party.
- Tilting your headdown, comb your hair well.
- Make a perfectly even parting exactly in the center of the head.
- Mark where you want to make the buns.
- French braids from the back of the head towards future buns. Try to make sure that the pigtails are symmetrical.
- When you reach the marked points, tie your hair with elastic bands and form buns. Secure them with bobby pins and bobby pins. Done!
7. Reverse braiding for short hair
Did you get a bob haircut recently? Then you have a great opportunity to perform an incredibly stylish and unusual hairstyle that will give your look a little pepper. This hairstyle looks especially interesting on multi-colored hair. With her, you definitely will not go unnoticed.
- Part the hair in such a way as to divide the hair into three sectors - right, left and back. And that most of them be on the right side.
- Pull the hair from the back and right sector into an elastic band so that it does not interfere with braiding.
- Make another parting from the forehead to the back of the head, thereby dividing the remaining hair into two parts so that the top is narrower than the bottom. Gather the hair from the bottom of the parting into an elastic band.
- French back almost to the back of your head, secure with a bobby pin.
- Having loosened the hair from the bottom of the parting, braid another pigtail in the same way. Make it invisible. French braids must run strictly parallel to each other!
- Loose the remaining hair so that ithid the back of the braids. The hair of the back sector can be combed to give volume. Remove the parting between the right and rear sectors.
