Who is Takada Kenzo
In English there is such a thing as "selfmade man". Literally, it translates as"a man who made himself." This concept is fully applicable to Takada Kenzo. He is the son of rather poor parents. Born in the Japanese outback, in the godforsaken town of Himeji in 1939. But despite life's circumstances, he trained as a designer. At the same time, he had to break the stereotypes of the Japanese that the fashion designer is an exclusively female profession. Takada was the only boy at the Bunka Gakuen fashion school. After graduating from this institution, he got a job designing clothing styles for supermarkets. He lived then in a small town on the outskirts of Tokyo. And then fate smiled at Kenzo. Tokyo expanded rapidly. Entire blocks built up with mansions were demolished, and skyscrapers were erected in their place. Kenzo received considerable compensation for his house, and with the proceeds he decided to conquer Paris. Already in 1970, the Western world learned about women's outfits under the Kenzo brand. Perfumes took the designer's heart much later. In 1987, a women's fragrance appeared - Kenzo de Kenzo, and in 1991 - a men's fragrance Kenzo pour Homme.
Who owns the brand now
For two years the designer was torn between the world of haute couture and perfumery. During this time, the fashion for everything Japanese reached its peak. Europeans are tired of the pastel gray-blue range and the sex appeal of tight outfits. And Kenzo brings oriental flair and a Japanese sense of freedom to this chic Parisian glamour. The same ideology was traced in the spirits of Kenzo. Perfumery ceased to obey the established canons. Each fragrance claimedman as a person. Therefore, the Kenzo brand was so popular in the early 90s. The LVMH corporation persuaded Takada to sell it. Finally, in 1993, the proposed conditions satisfied the designer and he ceded all rights to perfumery, leaving himself the design of clothes. But in 1999, the designer, having received the Peace Prize, retired.
What state is Kenzo in now: haute couture perfumes
Do not think that the brand, having lost its founder, fell into decay or changed its original direction. Not at all - bright and sensual orientality, Japanese minimalism and craving for originality continue to be present in all the fragrances of this brand. But the oriental notes in them are exactly the ones that conquer the hearts of Europeans. This was the secret of Kenzo's success. Its fragrances are not heavy like Arabic perfumes on natural oils. And at the same time, they stand out from the range of "simply expensive" perfumes created according to the canons. If you are in a crowd, a sensitive nose will immediately determine that you are wearing Kenzo perfume or eau de toilette. This fragrance cannot be confused with anything else. LVMH Corporation constantly pleases its fans with new products. To create them, she invites leading perfumers such as Jacques Cavalier, François Demachy, Dominique Ropion, Sylvia Fischer, Sonia Constant and others.
Kenzo men's collection
To understand the peculiarities of the perfumery of this brand, it is worth trying early samples. The name of the perfume for women "King Kong" (1978) was shocking. Nevertheless, these spirits are a success. At first, the designer produced singlefragrances for both women and men. But the LVMH corporation, which acquired the Kenzo brand, began to play with “variations on a theme”. This is how the famous Kenzo collections were born. Perfume "Kenzo pur Omm" (the first sample of 1991) was continued. Now it is included in the collection "For men". The curved shape of the bottle and frosted glass are repeated in all subsequent releases. Kenzo Homme Boisee eau de toilette (woody smell) became the bestsellers in this collection. Of the new products, it is worth trying Omm Knight (Night Man) and Kenzo Homme eau de parfum. The fashion house "Kenzo" does not forget about the strong field in other collections. If they are dedicated to some topic, for example, water, power, peace, then he creates paired fragrances. Sometimes all the fragrances in a collection come out as "unisex". This refers to the 2016 release "Totem". The collection, presented in three fragrances (Blue, Orange and Yellow), is designed for young and energetic people of both sexes.
Classic Kenzo collections
Of course, most of the fragrances under this brand are intended for ladies. In this area, the Flower by Kenzo collection has already become a classic. The fragrance of flowers varies, but the theme of a powerful summer bouquet, dominated by a heady rose, remains. Each year, a new specimen is added to the collection. Perfumers hired by the house are experimenting with bouquets, complementing them with spring freshness and oriental notes. New for 2017 in this collection is Flower by Kenzo Eau de Lumière (“Luminous Water”). In this sample, a bouquet of Bulgarian rose, ylang-ylang and jasmine beautifully framesCalabrian bergamot and currant leaves on a base of violet, heliotrope and white musk. No less famous collection is "Jungle". The elephant cap perfume is more popular than Kenzo Jungle le Tigre.
"Love" collections
"Kenzo Amor" and Jeu d`Amour by Kenzo are called by Russian users the most recognizable and famous women's fragrances. Curved, brightly colored bottles of these series immediately catch the eye on the shelves of perfume shops. These collections are very popular, and therefore are replenished every year with new products. The latest example is Jeu d'Amour Félin, whose bottle resembles a little black dress and enchants with aromas of strawberry, mandarin, tuberose and peony. Musk, amber and patchouli in the base create an amazingly feminine trail. From the Amor collection, many users like Indian Holiday.
Kenzo: the scent of a vacation
Probably, you often wanted to stop the moment while spending time at the resort. And Kenzo succeeded. The first example in this collection was 7:15 AM in Bali. The sun had just risen, but patches of fog were still stuck in the dense canopy of the jungle. The freshness of foliage, the awakening of birds, the scent of tropical flowers. The second piece of the collection, "5:40 pm in Madagascar" also became a bestseller. The sunset red sun is depicted on the perfume box. And the bottle contains the aroma of evening Madagascar. And finally, "10:10 in Sicily." The hot rays have already warmed the leaves of the orange trees, which exude their fragrance mixed withlight sea breeze. Can perfume contain color? And it turned out to be up to specialists from Kenzo. Perfume "Colour Yellow" concluded everything yellow in the fragrance. Later, the collection was replenished with pink and purple flowers.
The theme of water and air
These are two more famous Kenzo collections. Perfume shops tend to have a lot of samples of aquatic scents for both men and women. Some samples connect the theme of water with the idea of color. And in 2017, the company released the Aquadizak pair fragrance as part of the L'O Kenzo collection. But the perfumers at home left the sphere of air behind the strong floor, releasing the perfumes "Ear" and "Air Intance". This line immediately attracted the attention of men.
