The tongue is considered a fairly popular puncture site, of course, you should choose the right jewelry for it. The choice largely depends on the visual component, but this is far from the main characteristic. There are many parameters that must be taken into account so that the puncture does not cause inconvenience.
What is it?
Tongue bars consist of a straight rod of small thickness (slightly thicker than a needle), on which balls are wound on both sides. Sometimes a twisting mount can be only on one side, if on the second there is a specific decoration in the form of a crystal, a skull and another. Decorations on both sides are made large so that they cannot fall into the puncture and fall out, which, in turn, can lead to damage to the tongue. This is the organ on which human taste buds are located, sometimes after a puncture, some tastes are no longer felt.
Most often, a puncture is made in the middle, less often symmetrically on two sides of the center. Long rods are best suited for so-called longitudinal orhorizontal holes. The tongue is pierced through from right to left (the direction is not important) a few centimeters from the tip. Touching the edge is not entirely safe, this can cause severe bleeding. Sometimes only the very tip of the tongue is pierced; round earrings are quite suitable for this place. Rings are also used to pierce the bridle.
Fit size
The length and thickness of the decoration is chosen independently, depending on the desired result. The standard size for a tongue bar is 16mm long and 8mm in diameter. In this case, the rod protrudes slightly beyond the tongue and the decorations do not interfere, while they look quite free and beautiful. However, the size grid is practically unlimited, the length can range from 4.5 mm to 38 mm. Small rods sit tight, pull the tongue a little, creating a cute dimple on its surface. Some, on the contrary, prefer long rods, allowing you to create a very unusual look.
The piercing can be stretched by gradually picking up a larger and larger diameter of the jewelry. The wide rods for the tongue look rather rough. Too voluminous jewelry can be uncomfortable, it will not be easy to get used to them at first. Due to their wearing, diction may change. In addition, rods or rings that constantly touch the teeth can severely damage the enamel.
Please note that immediately after the piercing it is necessary to insert an earring longer than necessary. The rod must move freely so that the metal cannot adhere to a fresh wound. So the healing processwill pass much faster and more painlessly.
How to put on the barbell?
The first tongue bar after the puncture is put on immediately, this must be done by the master to avoid damage. After a few weeks (on average 3-4), the earring can be changed to any other. Even if the wound has already healed, the jewelry should be treated with hydrogen peroxide, and the oral cavity with a weak s alt solution.
Through the rod should always be very careful. Sometimes, in inexpensive rods, a clasp sticks into the tongue, in this case, the fastening of the balls. If a similar situation has occurred and you cannot easily remove the jewelry, you need to go to the master. Do not try to solve the problem yourself, this may cause the puncture to break.
Materials
Metal is constantly in contact with the mucosa, therefore, in order to avoid irritation or suppuration of the puncture, attention should be paid to the material. It is recommended to use exclusively silver or gold tongue bars for permanent wear. Cheap metal, especially one topped with paint or varnish, will begin to oxidize, and the coating may crack and remain inside the puncture.
Titanium, which is widely used in medicine, is considered an ideal material. It is proved that this particular metal is better than others combined with the human body. It is absolutely harmless, non-toxic, non-toxic. Acrylic jewelry is used as a cheaper and easily accessible analogue. They have the advantage of not damaging the enamel, norcause an allergic reaction.
The truth about surgical steel
In Russia, surgical steel jewelry is often used for the first time after piercing. Since surgical instruments are made from this metal, it is considered the most suitable. However, in many countries, surgical steel is banned due to the release of harmful substances into the body. Therefore, it should not be worn until the wound is completely healed.
Variety of designs
Today there is a huge variety of tongue piercing rods. They differ not only in length and diameter. Color, patterns, design and attachments - the choice is huge, it is not difficult to find a little thing that will appeal to even the most demanding customer with a delicate peculiar taste.
Nozzles are made from absolutely any materials of a wide variety of shapes. Girls most often choose simple metal balls or shiny large rhinestones. Multi-colored balls with the likeness of miniature spikes look interesting.
Curly bars look beautiful in the tongue. Images on them can be both very brutal, for example, with figures of a skull, bones, a lion's head or a Gothic cross, or very feminine and even childish: flowers, hearts, stars, emoticons and butterflies.
Metal rods are mostly silver in color. The exceptions are gold, surgical steel and acrylic. Steel is most often found in silver or laconic black, paintedquite rare.
