The history of the word "jeans" goes back to the 19th century, when the colonization of American lands grew into a worldwide emigration. Many talented artisans and inventors went to the golden country to follow their dreams. Among them was the son of Jewish tailor Levi Strauss, who arrived in San Francisco to the gold mines, penniless.
At that time, hard workers, digging pits and in need of durable clothing, languished in the heat in woolen trousers. Others were easily torn to shreds or hard to wash off. This is where the story of the word "jeans" begins.
The fabric from which the first denim trousers were sewn was intended for workers' tents. However, the model turned out to be so successful that tailoring began on an industrial scale. The color "indigo" was forever entrenched in jeans, and Levi Strauss organized a successful transnational corporation to this day.
The history of the word "jeans" has become associated with reliability, style and success. Cowboys and gold diggers have long featured in advertisements for these items. These jeans were also remembered by Soviet students, in whose wardrobe they began to enter in the seventies. No matter how hard the party tried to eradicate jeans, they turned out to be immortal and every year onlygained popularity, remaining today the most common and versatile clothing.
By the way, the first jeans 150 years ago cost no less than 1.46 dollars. As the story of the word “jeans” tells, these clothes were intended for wearing money, watches and a knife, therefore they were sewn in the form of overalls.
What's going on today? Designers are experimenting with styles, colors and accessories in such a way that you can no longer distinguish original jeans from other trousers: there are pipes, leggings, and sports models.
By the way, the composition of the first fiber of the fabric included hemp threads, which gave the products strength. However, cotton eventually became the only raw material for the production of denim. The following types of fabrics can be distinguished from which jeans are sewn:
- Denim is an original expensive fabric that has a white color from the inside and is washed out over time.
- Chumbry is cheaper, with a synthetic vertical insert.
- Gin is a budget material, evenly dyed.
- Stretch cotton - stretchable fabric in different colors.
But it makes no sense to talk about styles, now every designer sees them differently. Someone introduces shortened models into fashion, someone, on the contrary, prefers a “male” fit. Over time, the main types of jeans nevertheless stood out:
- regular fit - the same five-pocket classic with which Levi Strauss conquered the world;
- easy fit - tight at the hips, slightly to the bottomtapered;
- relaxed fit - loose fit, hip flare possible;
- skinny - tight, tightly fitting;
- low waist - pants with a low waist;
- baggy - very wide or baggy pants, a variation of which are women's boyfriend fit jeans, repeating the men's style;
- jeggings are a cross between stretch jeans and leggings.
Now there are many variations with prints, lace, metal rivets. At least one pair of jeans is a must have in everyone's wardrobe.
