What is the most comfortable home wear? Of course, this is a bathrobe, it is so different that it can satisfy the tastes of anyone. What if you try to sew it at home? This article will tell you how to do it right and what to pay attention to.
Robe with a smell - why is it called that
Probably many (both men and women) have a bathrobe. There are many models, but the most common is a wraparound robe. And it is called so, because one half of the dressing gown is wrapped around the other. Sometimes a thin belt is provided inside, which allows the dressing gown not to "disperse". As a rule, this applies to thin women's dressing gowns. Outside, there is a thicker belt.
This model is very light and comfortable to wear: you can quickly put on a bathrobe if you need to go out somewhere. Also, a similar style is considered the best for bathrobes. The fabric from which wrap-around bathrobes are sewn can be very diverse. It can be either thin silk or terry, short or long, with or without a hood, with different sleeve lengths. It all depends on the purpose of use: beauty or warmth and comfort.
One ofKimono is a type of wrap-around robe. Its feature is the presence of a wide three-quarter sleeve.
If you really want to sew it yourself
You can buy a bathrobe at any clothing store, but it is much more interesting to sew it yourself. In addition, it can be a great gift for a friend or soulmate. Sewing yourself is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance, even those who do not have the talent of a seamstress will succeed.
First of all, you need to decide on the fabric. Tip: for those who are not very familiar with sewing, it is better to opt for simple fabrics (cotton, flannel, terry cloth), silk is best left to experienced seamstresses. The amount of material needed will depend on the size of the future bathrobe, its length.
Sewing requires the following measurements:
- Bust girth - measured at the highest points of the chest and shoulder blades.
- Hips - measurements are taken at the widest part of the hips. If there is a protruding belly, then take it into account.
- Waist length in front - the distance from the shoulder through the chest to the waist.
- The length from her back - from the shoulder through the shoulder blade to the waist.
- Length from waist down - the distance to the desired length.
- Sleeve length - optional.
You can sew a dressing gown with or without a pattern. The choice depends on the desire. At the same time, these measurements must be taken for both sewing options.
With or without pattern
Sewing can be done in two ways: withusing a pattern and without it. The pattern of a bathrobe with a smell is done on paper, tracing paper, cardboard, fabric. This method is more accurate, and it is also possible to correct the shortcomings that have arisen. The method without a pattern is faster, but less accurate. All marks here are made directly on the fabric. You need to work as carefully as possible, since it will be difficult to correct mistakes.
One of the easiest sewing options involves the following steps. Here you can do without a pattern, but those who wish can use it:
1) First, the fabric is folded in half, so you get two halves of the future bathrobe. As a result, we get the middle of the front.
2) The largest girth is taken (chest or hips), 10 cm is added to the value, the resulting value is divided in half, postponed from the fold, from which it is then necessary to draw a straight line.
For example, the circumference of the hips is 100 cm, add 10 cm, we get 110/2=55 cm. This value is postponed.
3) From the top, you need to step back 1.5-2 cm for the seam. Then, down along the marked straight line, the length to the waist is measured and a perpendicular strip is drawn, which will be its line.
4) Further from this line, the height of the side is measured.
5) The width of the pattern is divided in half. For the front, 2 cm is added, and for the back, it is subtracted. From the line obtained in the first step, it is necessary to postpone the width of the front.
6) From the waist line down, the length is postponed to the back of the waist.
7) For the neck, mark 3-5 cm deep and 8-11 cm wide.
8) Fromneckline is measured by shoulder length.
9) From the line of the shoulder, the armhole line for the back is perpendicularly marked.
10) At the last step, you need to connect the neckline with the waistline, from which you need to mark a line down, moving it a little to the side.
In addition to the pattern, you will also need three strips 1.5 m long and 10 cm wide.
No need to be afraid that it may not work out, in fact, as soon as you get started, it turns out that sewing a wrap-around robe with your own hands is quite simple and understandable. When all the marks are made, the details are prepared, you can proceed to the most interesting part - sewing. It is necessary to connect all the parts, sweep them, iron and process them.
